Colca Canyon

Did I mention we got to ride mules?

We just returned from a 3 day trek into the Colca Canyon. We hiked from an altitude of 3200m to 2100m and then returned by mule.

I'll admit it. I cranked up the saturation on these a bit...

The colours at this beach in Paracus were amazing.

This photo was uploaded while on a bus! Not bad for a developing country. Can't wait until cabs have wifi too.

A puppet in downtown Lima.

Fountains

leave a comment »

We notes Peruvians have no problem with PDAs. These make-out benches were all over the place in teh park and most of them were being used to full advantage.

Day 2. Visit to the Museo Larco and the highlight of the day Parque De Reserva or Parque a l’agua. The park featured over a dozen water-fountains that were lit up beautifully with coloured lights. The water pulsed with the music played over the PA system and families crowed around to watch the show. Some of the fountains included an interactive element where people would run in and out of the fountains in between the pulsing water jets.

By the looks of most participants it was clear the fountain was winning at this game.

From the air..

80 tornadoes have to be some kind of record...

We’re in Peru. Here’s a shot from the air during our flight to Miami on Sat April 16. Apparently the area we flew over saw over 80 tornadoes just after we passed by. Also, we learned an air traffic controller was fired today after being caught sleeping on the job at Miami International airport just after we landed.

Christie’s Mill Sunset

with one comment

The service was so good the second time around that we may even go back some day on our own dime...

A picture from the balcony of our suite at the Inn at Christie’s Mill. We revisited them for our 6 month wedding anniversary because of their superb response to our complaints. We listed some concerns on our comment form at the end of our mini-moon and they responded by sending us a gift certificate for a free night including dinner and breakfast! More companies need to take customer complaints seriously like this. Way to go!

A beautiful day for some pancakes.

We stopped in at Killbear Provincial Park for their maple syrup festival a few weeks ago during our drive home from Sudbury. This is what the lake looked like.

If you haven't seen it...you have to check out the post-it slinky youtube video...

I broke our clock. But the movement still worked. So with the help of a few post-it notes it’s back up on our wall.

The moon was 12% larger and brighter than usual.

…or super moon happens when a full moon coincides with a close approach of the moon to earth as occurred on March 19th 2010.
