Web

Website under construction. Awesome.

Found this in St. Jacobs near Tonya’s house. The cycle is complete. The internet comes back to haunt reality.

I’ve always wanted to see a barn raising…perhaps this is as close as I’ll ever get.

Old stuff…

Scale, originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.

This old scale was in the Home Hardware museum in St. Jacobs. You can see an old Home Hardware uniform on a mannequin in the background. They had a number of really great museums in the old mill: Home Hardware, one about electricity, and a great model train museum.

See old stuff isn’t always bad. As much as I hope Obama wins the US election, I’m not sure how I feel about the discussion about the likeliness that McCain may die during his presidency and that we shouldn’t vote for him because if he does pass away, then Palin will be in charge. Aren’t we discriminating against McCain and Palin on the basis of McCain’s health? On a side note: the media needs to come up with a new phase to replace “heart beat away”.

Honest tunnel

Honest

The light at the end of the tunnel is the Honest Ed sign. The Honest Ed sign is lit up in front of the court house. Interesting message.

Darts anyone?

Dart board

Clean up

This giant dart board was also at Nuit Blanche. It was actually very difficult to get the darts to the top boards. I felt bad for the poor guy that had to keep sweeping up the ones that missed. Standing in front of a giant dart board all night must take guts.

Hippie Tree

Yoko

An interesting exhibit at Nuit Blanche. The idea comes from Yoko Ono who suggested people should write down a thought about peace on a card and then tie it to a tree. And yes, I’ve accepted it. I am a hippie.

Peace

Hill, originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.

Here’s what my neighbourhood looked like on Thanksgiving weekend. Some really nice colours. (For Colin). You can also see how much Sudburians like their trucks.

Tonya my parents and I went up to Onaping Falls on Thanksgiving weekend to see the colours. Such a beautiful place.

Smoke

Smokey, originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.

Nuit Blanche exhibit: The smoke coming from these crates was illuminated on and off by a throbbing light source. One of the more interesting exhibits.

Barrels, originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.

Another great nuit blanche exhibit. The writing seems to be nonsense…but it’s written on a giant wall of barrels…so that’s cool.

Fountain Bubbles, originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.

During Nuit Blanche someone poured detergent into this fountain. Neat effect. People should do this more often.

Maple Leaf Gardens

Maple Leaf Gardens, originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.

The gardens were open to the public during Nuit Blanche. They had these two big screens showing what looked to me like magic mud being vibrated by sound waves from speakers. One screen was a male voice and the other screen was a female voice. They took turns talking about how people should live their lives.

Big blue, originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.

This giant blue air filled thing was hung in the Eaton Centre for Nuit Blanche. I was trying to figure out what it might be…

St. James Cathedral

St. James Cathedral, originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.

St. James Cathedral. The oldest church in Toronto was open during Nuit Blanche…at King and Church. Come to think of it…this is probably the Church in Church Street…

I wonder if more people will turn to religion in tough financial times…
